Ultraviolet‑fused quartz glass offers a broader spectral range (185 nm–2.1 μm) than K9 optical glass, exhibiting excellent transmittance in the ultraviolet region, a lower refractive index, superior homogeneity, and a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion. It also boasts enhanced chemical resistance and very low fluorescence, making it suitable for fabricating various optical components. A biconvex lens focuses light to a single point, with a positive focal length, and consists of two convex surfaces of equal radius. When the conjugate ratio (object distance: image distance) falls between 5:1 and 1:5, a biconvex lens is the optimal choice for minimizing aberrations; outside this range, planoconvex lenses are typically preferred.
