Characteristics
- Ø1-inch diffuse reflector
- The surface roughness of the coated surface can be 120, 220, 600, or 1500 grit.
- High-reflection silver film with a protective layer, covering the spectral range from 450 nm to 20 µm.
- Clear Aperture: >90% of the diameter
- A high‑Gaussian intensity profile can be achieved when the beam is incident at the normal incidence angle.
- N-BK7 substrate
Diffuse reflectors are designed for applications that require a diffused intensity pattern. Our diffuse reflectors are manufactured using an N‑BK7 substrate and feature a coating on one surface. Silver film with a protective layer , with polishing grades available in 120, 220, 600, or 1500 grit. Although coatings can protect silver from contamination, it is still important to avoid excessively humid air.
Polished diffusers offer advantages over sandblasted diffusers, as the former exhibit superior surface uniformity. A range of mesh sizes is available, providing scattering characteristics from fine to coarse. Coarser mesh sizes (e.g., 120) produce substantial diffuse scattering at the expense of transmittance, whereas finer mesh sizes (e.g., 1500) deliver higher transmittance. The figure shows the intensity distribution of reflected light (AOI = 0°) for each diffuser. For details on how the reflected‑light intensity distribution varies with incident angles of 15°, 30°, and 45°, please refer to… Figure Label. The sample data are typical values; actual results may vary.
These diffuser plates are too thin—only 2.0 mm—and cannot be mounted in our standard adjustment mounts. However, they can be installed in our mounts designed for Ø1‑inch optical components. LMR1 Fixed mounting bracket, Ø1-inch lens tube or KM100T In a threaded adjustment mount, when mounting a diffuser onto a threaded optical component holder (such as the LMR1), the polished and coated surface should face the locating surface of the holder, and the retaining ring should be installed on the uncoated side. If the diffuser is mounted in the reverse orientation, the reflective surface will be recessed deep within the holder, and the housing will block a portion of the diffused light.
