Among these is imaging in the ultraviolet (UV) spectral region, which lies beyond the visible spectrum. Because UV light has shorter wavelengths than visible light, it is employed to detect subtle scratches and defects that are difficult to identify under visible illumination. Furthermore, objects that appear identical under visible light—such as transparent plastics or plastic bottles—often exhibit distinct UV absorption characteristics. Consequently, UV cameras can reliably distinguish between such materials, making them well suited for material sorting and identification.
Our company has specially developed a UV imaging system tailored to market needs. By integrating UV illumination with a dedicated lens, the system delivers unique visual information that conventional visible-light cameras cannot capture.
Our company employs a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor that delivers exceptional resolution, high sensitivity, and low noise. The glass cover on the sensor is made of quartz, which exhibits excellent UV transmittance, enabling performance ideally suited for UV imaging. This design not only maintains outstanding sensitivity but also produces images with minimal noise—introducing the Knight‑420UV, a high‑sensitivity ultraviolet camera.
