The KnightCam G400 BI cooled back-illuminated sCMOS scientific-grade camera features a high-performance back-illuminated image sensor. To address the sensor’s inherent thermal noise, it is equipped with an advanced cooling module that lowers the sensor temperature by up to 40°C below ambient. To prevent condensation at low temperatures, the camera incorporates an anti-fogging design that ensures the sensor surface remains free of fog even in cold conditions. This proprietary technology significantly reduces image noise, thereby guaranteeing superior image quality.
The temperature of the camera sensor can be controlled via software, ensuring the highest possible photoelectric conversion quantum efficiency while minimizing video or image noise. However, at extremely low temperatures, the quantum efficiency of high-performance image sensors drops significantly, making temperature control particularly critical. Sensor control and video data transmission are implemented through a USB 3.0 high-speed interface to enable rapid previewing.
The KnightCam G400 BI cooled back-illuminated sCMOS scientific-grade camera comes with advanced image-processing software for camera control and image‑capture processing. The camera supports trigger modes: software triggering, enabling single‑shot acquisition of one or multiple images; and long‑exposure mode, with a maximum exposure time of up to 1 hour.
