Enhanced Magnetic Dipole Radiation in the Yellow Light Band of Optical Metamaterials

Here, we demonstrate the control of magnetic dipole spontaneous emission in the yellow-light wavelength range via magnetic metamaterials. By embedding magnetic dipoles into a magnetic metamaterial composed of paired silver strip arrays, the radiation enhancement near the 590-nanometer wavelength and the Purcell factor are significantly boosted to 110 and 180, respectively. Moreover, this enhancement effect exhibits robustness against variations in dipole position and structural geometry, demonstrating excellent fabrication tolerance for practical applications.





In summary, we have successfully enhanced the spontaneous emission of magnetic dipole transitions near the 590-nanometer wavelength by employing a sandwich-type grating metamaterial structure. Near the interface between the metal and dielectric layers, despite strong metallic absorption in the visible-light range, we achieved an enhancement of up to 180 times in the magnetic dipole near-field radiation and a significant enhancement of up to 110 times in the far-field radiation. This enhanced magnetic dipole radiation exhibits low sensitivity to variations in spatial position, magnetic dipole orientation, and resonance mismatch. By tuning the structural geometric parameters, we can precisely control the resonance effects and radiation enhancement across the entire visible spectrum. Therefore, this coupled nanoband structure can serve as a versatile building block for generating strong magnetic field enhancements across the visible spectrum, thereby enabling precise control over magnetic dipole transitions.
