These anodized aluminum magnetic bases are modeled according to the hot-selling standard base, but with rare earth magnets added to the bottom to temporarily fix the components during the construction process. The magnetic force of the magnet is sufficient to help prevent sudden movement of the element while also being easily repositioned. These bases can only be used on magnetic platforms or breadboards to their full performance; however, they can also be used as standard bases on non-magnetic surfaces.
The base can engage the adapter bracket by inserting the cap screw into the 1/4 inch (M6) counterbore at the bottom. The base also has at least one slot for a (M6) cap screw when it is finally fixed to the optical breadboard. After the positioning is completed, the base must be fixed to the platform with screws for long-term use.
