Plano-concave lens, N-BK7, A/D coating: 350-700 nm

N-BK7 is one of the most common optical glasses used to manufacture high quality optical components. N-BK7 glasses are generally chosen when the additional advantages of ultraviolet fused silica (I. e., excellent light transmission in the ultraviolet light band and lower coefficient of thermal expansion) are not required. Like all plano-concave lenses, this lens has a negative focal length and can be used to diverge the collimated beam.

Technical Data

· Material: N-BK7

Broadband reflection coating wavelength range: 350 - 700 nm

· Available in 6 sizes: Ø6mm,Ø9mm,Ø1/2 inch (Ø12.7mm),Ø25mm,Ø1 inch (Ø25.4mm) and Ø2 inch (Ø50.8mm)

· Excellent transmittance in visible and near infrared bands

These plano-concave lenses are made of RoHS-compliant N-BK7 glass and coated with a 350 - 700 nm broadband AR coating. When using an uncoated lens, 4% loss occurs on each surface, and this coating can greatly reduce this light loss (see the curve tab for details).

In this case, the curved surface of the lens should be oriented toward the light source to minimize spherical aberration. In addition, they can be applied to counteract the influence of spherical aberration caused by other lenses in the optical system.

N-BK7

The following is the transmission rate curve of the RoHS compliant N-BK7. Shown is the total transmission, including surface reflection, of a 10mm thick, uncoated sample.

These high performance multilayer AR coatings have an average reflectance of less than 0.5 percent per face over the specified wavelength range. These AR coatings are designed for angles of incidence ranging from 0 to 30 degrees (0.5 NA). For optical systems intended for large angles of incidence, conventional coatings optimized for angles of incidence of 45 ° can be considered. These AR coatings are effective from 25 ° to 52 °. The graph below shows the performance of these standard coatings as a function of wavelength. The broadband coating has a typical absorption of 0.25 percent, which is not shown in the reflectance curve.

The blue-shaded area indicates the specified wavelength range of 650 - 1050 nm for best performance.

The lenses can also be coated with a broadband reflection enhancement coating version. The figure below shows their reflectivity curves.

These high performance multilayer AR coatings have an average reflectance of less than 0.5 percent (per surface) over the specified wavelength range and provide good performance over an incident angle range of 0 ° to 30 °(0.5 NA). The graph below shows the performance of the standard coating of the series of products as a function of wavelength. The typical absorption of the broadband coating is 0.25%, which is not shown in the reflectance curve.
