Point beam splitter

Our 50/50 dot beam splitter is a UV fused silica substrate with a "big dot" pattern and a protective film of aluminum and silicon oxide. They are optimized for white light illumination applications and offer two unique advantages over conventional dielectric beam splitters: they are neutral in the wavelength range of fused silica substrates and aluminum coatings, and they are not sensitive to changes in angle of incidence.

Dot Pattern Beam Splitter

These beam splitters coated in a "dot" pattern are plated with an aluminum and silicon oxide protective coating. The pattern is a series of aluminum dots with a diameter of 2.5mm, and the center-to-center distance between adjacent two points is 3.2mm. The light is reflected at the metallized region of the beam splitter and can pass through the uncoated region of the beam splitter.

250 to 2500 nm 50/50 split

Optimized for white light lighting applications, the minimum beam diameter for 50/50 splitting is 0.37 inches (9.5mm). For beams larger than this diameter, 50% of the incident beam strikes the coated area (independent of the angle of incidence) and is reflected. The other 50% of the incident beam strikes the uncoated fused silica. Since metals are less sensitive to the angle of incidence and polarization, the change in the reflection of the coating area can be ignored at a large range of angles of incidence. The reflectivity of the uncoated region is sensitive to the angle of incidence and polarization due to the Fresnel effect, but the effect is small (unless there is an extremely high angle of incidence). Specified performance can be expected for angles of incidence up to 45 °.

Ideal for white light lighting applications

Our dot beam splitters are not sensitive to the angle of incidence, so they are very suitable for separating the energy of the light source. These versatile beam splitters do not exhibit significant diffractive divergence effects. When they are used with high interference laser beams, diffraction is likely to occur. The polarized light source also does not affect the performance of the beam splitter. Dot beam splitters are suitable for broadband extended light sources, including halogen, tungsten, deuterium and xenon lamps, as well as monochromators, spectrophotometers and various optical systems.

Cleaning the Dot Beam Splitter

When cleaning the dot beam splitter with grid dot aluminum coating on the glass substrate, please use it carefully and do not clean it with water or solvent, as this will cause the coating to deteriorate. If possible, use in a non-condensing, dust-free environment. If dust or dirt is found, gently blow the debris off the surface with compressed gas.
