Technical Data
Aspherical achromatic lenses fill the gap between color-correcting achromatic lenses and spherical aberration-correcting aspheric lenses. This unique design results in an affordable, color-corrected aspheric element. The doublet lens consists of two bonded elements that are matched to achieve their color-correcting capabilities and smaller RMS spot size. The second surface of the doublet lens is fused with a molded polymer aspheric surface. These molds create a stable aspheric profile that eliminates or reduces the wavefront errors typically present in achromatic lenses while improving the numerical aperture.Typical applications of aspherical achromatic lenses include fiber focusing or collimation, image relay, detection, scanning, and high numerical aperture imaging.
The second surface of the doublet lens is formed by melting a layer of polymer using molding technology, creating a stable aspheric profile that reduces or eliminates wavefront errors in achromatic lenses while improving the numerical aperture.
