Features
Ideal for thermal imaging
Zinc selenide has low infrared absorption and is capable of transmitting light beams in a very wide spectral range (0.6-16 μm). This facilitates thermal imaging, where the temperature of a distant object can be determined from its blackbody radiation spectrum. The long-wave transmission is very important for the imaging of room temperature objects. The maximum radiation wavelength of room temperature objects is about 10 μm, but the radiation intensity is very low.

3 to 12 μm broadband coatings
ZnSe has a high refractive index and requires an AR coating to achieve high transmittance. Our broadband AR. 20 coatings were optimized for 3 μm to 12 μm.
