Technical Data

Infrared bandpass filter: center wavelength 1.75–12.00 µm

● The center wavelength of the passband ranges from 1.75 to 12.00 µm

● Broadband filter, bandwidth 500 nm (FWHM)

● Gas absorption line filter, with a bandwidth ranging from 60 to 250 nm

● Ø1 inch or Ø25 mm mounted filter

Characteristics

  • Center wavelength from 1.75 to 12.00 μm
  • Broadband filter with a 500 nm bandpass region (FWHM)
  • Narrowband filters, used for gas absorption lines with bandwidths ranging from 60 to 250 nm.
  • Minimum transmittance at the center wavelength: 60% or greater
  • Ø1 inch or Ø25 mm mounted filter

The center wavelength range of the bandpass filters displayed on this page is selectable from 1.75 to 12.00 µm. You can click the information icons in Tables G1.1 and G2.1 ( ) View the transmittance curve for each filter. Each filter is mounted in a black anodized aluminum ring using epoxy, and is compatible with our… SM1 Lens Tube These filters offer a longer service life than our standard UV, visible, and near-infrared bandpass filters, as they are manufactured with single-sided coated substrates. This manufacturing process allows for damage-free handling of unmounted filters; however, the blocking transmittance may be affected. Once purchased, these filters cannot be removed from their mounting holders—please contact… Technical Sales Custom-order unmounted optical filters.

Thorlabs’ bandpass filters offer the simplest way to transmit light at a specific wavelength while blocking unwanted wavelengths. Essentially, they are thin-film Fabry–Perot interferometers fabricated using vacuum‑coating technology, featuring two reflective surfaces separated by an even-numbered layer of dielectric spacers. These reflective surfaces consist of alternating layers of high- and low‑index materials, with reflectivities exceeding 99.99%. By adjusting the thickness of the spacer layers and/or the number of reflective layers, the filter’s center wavelength and bandwidth can be tuned.

The infrared filter is mounted in the filter holder.

Several of the filters below are used at 1.90 microns (H 2 O), 4.26 microns (CO 2 ), 5.068 μm (H 2 O) or 5.33 μm (NO) gas absorption lines. These filters have relatively narrow transmission bands and sharp transmission peaks. The green-highlighted rows in Table G1.1 indicate narrow-band filters used for gas absorption lines.

Each filter is mounted in an anodized black‑finished aluminum mounting ring, with an arrow on the ring indicating the designed direction of light propagation, as shown in Figure 1.2. This ring is easy to handle and enhances optical density by minimizing stray light. These filters can be installed in many of our… Filter holder and filter wheel In the middle. Since these mounts are threadless, an Ø1-inch component is required during installation. Retaining ring Mount the filter onto our component with an internal thread. SM1 Lens Tube In the middle.
