Technical Data
The infrared (IR) right angle prism has three selectable substrates. Calcium fluoride is a low refractive index material (refractive index of 1.434) and has an excellent transmission between 0.19 - 7 μm, making it ideal for applications in UV, visible and infrared spectroscopy. Germanium is a dense material and has a high refractive index (n10.6μm = 4.0034), making it ideal for applications where optical path lengths between 3-12mu; m are used and where maximum increase in optical path length is required. Zinc selenide (n10.6μm = 2.4028) is usually used in conjunction with CO2 laser applications and has a high transmission between 1 - 16 μm.
Right angle prisms are typically used to bend the image path or to turn the light path 90 °. This product can produce left-handed images, depending on the orientation of the prism and whether the image is flipped or rotated. Right angle prisms can also be used for composite image/beam shift applications.
Caution: Special care should be taken when handling zinc selenide, as it is a toxic substance. Wear rubber or plastic gloves throughout the operation to avoid contact.
